Movement

Spirited Flow

Growing up as an avid athlete who played soccer, danced, and loved swimming as a child, I found immense joy, peace, and inner stillness within movement. It allowed me to move out of my limited view of thinking and ground me in the present moment while also feeling strong, connected, and capable. But for many years I also battled the confusion of what it meant to be connected to my body and still be a spiritual being. Was that possible?

As I struggled to make sense of difficult moments in my life in my teens and early 20’s, a break through moment was when I finally realized that movement and my spirituality did not have to be separate, I didn’t have to choose. I could be fully connected to my body and spirit at the same time. As I’ve continued to embody a deeper passion with movement, play, and ritual, and have trained in numerous movement modalities, the connection to my spiritual sense has also deepened, and allowed even more of my authentic self to shine through. There are many ways to be spiritual, my passion is to help people explore movement as a way connect to spirit.

SPIRITED FLOW- Is a blend of mental, emotional, and physical movements to encourage the brain to consciously choose, your emotions and body to release tension and build strength, and the spirit to nourish an authentic and connected sense of self. Intentional music is used to throughout class to engage in the mind and body.

Private Yoga + Pilates Instruction

Private sessions gives you the opportunity to receive instruction designed to meet your unique needs at a time that fits in with your schedule. This special attention will allow you to develop and deepen your practice, build a home practice or work with a specific condition, limitation, and or injury.

YOGA

Vinyasa Flow is a dynamic system of practicing asanas (poses). Yoga postures flow in a logical sequence. Each position complements those that precede and follow. This practice focuses on the synchronization of breath & the continuous flow of movement. Vinyasa is a strong practice that builds heat, endurance, flexibility, strength and mental focus.

Restorative yoga uses a series of easy, supported poses held for a long time under the right conditions (including the use of many props) to tip the balance from “fight or flight” mode into maximum relaxation. Yogis developed these poses over many years, but science tells us that, under the conditions set in restorative yoga, immediate effects on heart rate, blood pressure and brain activity are possible. Emphasis on complete muscular relaxation and comfort are emphasized to achieve a quiet state of mind and body.

Yin yoga invites you to slow down and create space for stillness while nourishing joints, ligaments, tendons and fascia. Yin is yoga at its coolest, deepest, quietest, stillest moments. This style of yoga will have you on the floor most of the time, using as many props needed to create as little effort while holding poses. Poses are held for 2-5 minutes allowing joints and fascia to release.

Pilates

Mat pilates involves performing pilates exercises on the floor using a pilates, or yoga mat. ... The main fitness goals of a mat pilates program include improved flexibility, muscle tone, body balance, spinal support, low back health, sports performance, and body-mind awareness.

Reformer apparatus was designed by Joseph Pilates. It consists of a carriage that moves back and forth along tracks within a frame. The resistance is provided by the exerciser's body weight and a set of springs attached to both the carriage and the platform. Reformer Pilates offers all the benefits of Pilates including overall strength, flexibility, coordination, and balance. These things, in turn, lead to daily life improvements like better posture, graceful and efficient movement, and for many, relief from pain associated with physical imbalances such as back pain.

Pre and Post-natal Pilates- Many women find Pilates to be one of best exercises to do, both during and after their pregnancy. One of the main reasons prenatal Pilates exercises are so important is that they help you to build and maintain core strength, giving your body the support it needs for a more comfortable pregnancy.

Many women suffer from aches and pains throughout the body during pregnancy. Prenatal Pilates is an extremely adaptable form of exercise, especially with the use of special reformer Pilates equipment, allowing each exercise to be modified to work with every stage of pregnancy.

Postnatal Pilates is also extremely effective for getting your body back regaining strength after birth, healing Diastasis Recti, opening up the arms and upper body and feeling good by moving in safe and effective ways after pregnancy. I offer many tips on how to engage the right muscles at the right time to ensure you see fast and lasting results!

FAQ

What is a “Spirited” class like?

A Spirited class is yoga inspired but with a blend of Pilates, somatic techniques, and HIIT exercises that accompanies opening breathwork and meditation. The class all flows to the beat of music and or intentional sound. Throughout the class we purposely connect to our spiritual selves through intentional offerings.

Ex: creating a triangle with hands and “placing inside” intentions and or prayers for yourself or others, to looking into empty palms and knowing you are waiting to be filled up with the blessings, and joys of the day.

In each class I guide students through different foundations spirited connection, ex: grounding or standing work that stabilizes and brings a sense of calm to our nervous system, mind, and body.

Do I have to practice any specific religion, to do a “Spirited” class?

Absolutely NOT, this practice is welcome to anyone of any faith or no religious affiliation of any kind. The goals of these practices is to help anyone feel more supported and connect to spirit through movement.
